Wedding Receptions, Galas, and Christmas Parties all have them.  You may not realize they’re there, but if they weren’t, you’d definitely notice…and not in a good way.  Professional banquet staffing = a successful event.  They are the unsung heroes of the catering world, making sure that the excellent food at the party makes its way to your plate and not on your shirt and that your glass is more than half full and your table is cleared.

Caterers and planners know this.  They know that if you want to stay in business, you gotta have a good serving staff!  We asked a high-end wedding planner recently "What is the most important thing for your caterers to have?"  Her response was "The servers and bartenders!  They are the face of your business.  No matter how good your food is or how nicely you present it, if you don't have professional and competent staff to serve it, then your product automatically becomes sub-par."  The serving staff represents the food presentation to the guests.  They can also adapt to the inevitable changes that will happen during an event – a mistake in seating charts, unexpected food allergies among the guests or a change in serving style.  

So when you see a server at your next event, let them know they are doing a good job and that you appreciate their work.
